What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your username and email address. Your password is stored as a one-way hash — we cannot read it.

When you post in the forum, submit tracks, or use the Rider Finder, that content is stored in our database and visible to other users based on your privacy settings.

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in between page visits. This cookie contains no personal information — only a secure token that identifies your session. It expires when you log out or clear your browser cookies.

How we use it

• To provide community features — forum, track finder, rider directory, etc.
• To improve the site based on how features are used.
• To contact you about your account if necessary.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account on KnobbyTalk. By registering, you confirm you meet this requirement. If we become aware that a user under 13 has registered, we will delete that account and its data.

Rider Finder — how it works

The Rider Finder is a directory that helps riders in the same area connect. Participation is completely optional and requires your explicit consent.

If you choose to opt in, the following information from your profile will be displayed publicly — visible to anyone who visits the site, including people who are not logged in:

• Your username
• Your state and city / town
• Your selected riding styles (e.g. Motocross, Enduro)
• Your bio, if you have written one

Your email address is never shown in the Rider Finder or anywhere else on the site.

You can enable or disable the Rider Finder at any time from your profile settings. Disabling it immediately removes you from the directory. We recommend only sharing a general location (state + nearest town) — do not include your home address in your city field or bio.

If you are between 13 and 17 years old, we recommend discussing participation in the Rider Finder with a parent or guardian before enabling it, as your general location will be publicly visible.

Your content

You own the content you post on KnobbyTalk — forum threads, replies, and track submissions remain yours. By posting, you grant KnobbyTalk a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display that content to other users as part of the community features of this site.

We do not claim ownership of your posts. Admins may remove content that violates our Community Guidelines.

Your rights

• Access: You can view and edit all information in your profile at any time.
• Opt out: You can remove yourself from the Rider Finder at any time in profile settings.
• Deletion: You can request full account and data deletion by emailing support@knobbytalk.com.

Data retention & deletion

Your data is stored on a self-hosted, privately operated server. If you'd like your account and all associated data removed, email support@knobbytalk.com and we will handle it promptly.
